Our Take

Billfishing at Hemingways in Kenya, for big game fishermen, is a bit like playing St Andrews for a golfer. Something you really must do at least once. Here, angling is a gentleman’s undertaking entirely, the boats are large and very comfortable, crews amongst the best we’ve ever seen and superbly packed and maintained cold boxes. Always an indicator. Deep ocean canyons and drop offs within sight of the shoreline keep travelling to minimum and we’ve hooked Sailfish there within 10 minutes of launch. This is one of the only places you could realistically target Marlin (black, blue and striped), Sailfish and Broadbill on one trip. The venerable old hotel herelf, has recently undergone a complete facelift, but the original Hemingways Bar, adorned with fishing history, thoughtfully retained. The ambiance and service?…..well its Hemingways old chap!
