SIMWENGE FISHING CAMP

DEKA, ZIMBABWE

Our Take

Tiger fishing is virtually a national sport in Zimbabawe. The Deka area of the Zambezi River, between the mighty Victoria Falls and Kariba Dam has always been considered a local honey hole. Now, one of the old camps has been revamped and converted into the Simwenge Fishing Lodge. Perfect for small groups of fishing mates and reasonably priced, the en-suite air-conditioned tents are positioned under mature shady trees and the central area boasts a well-used infinity pool. There are sections of fast moving rapids and large boulders offering lies for the Tigers waiting to attack unsuspecting prey, as well as wider slower sections more common on the Zambezi. The easiest access is through Vic Falls, which gives the opportunity of seeing this natural wonder before (or after) taking a charter flight or road transfer down to Deka. Well worth considering for your next river excursion.
