anantara bazaruto

The Bazaruto Archipelago in Mozambique is truly spectacular. A string of 6 tropical islands with swaying palm trees and white sandy beaches, surrounded by azure water. The largest of the islands is Bazaruto itself, which is home to the luxurious Anantara Resort.

With a protected marine sanctuary to the South, it is a breeding ground and nursery for many billfish. Flocks of seabirds regularly signal the bait balls moving through, followed by the Tuna and King Mackerel in season.

The GT’s and various Trevallies patrol the ledges of the reefs on the Eastern shoreline and Southern points, which can be targeted on light spinners or fly. On the Northern tip of Bazaruto, casting poppers and spoons from the sand spit on the right tide can also be very productive. Many world-record Blue and Black Marlin have been landed on the drop offs.

For families, honeymoons, or just plain beach holiday bliss, Anantara Bazaruto is heaven. With beachfront suites or hillside villas to choose from, the accommodation leaves nothing to be desired.

Their sumptuous cuisine, and first-class spa coupled with the full array of water sports makes this a superb island holiday with great fishing options.
